Tectyl 892-D is a solvent black cutback, extreme corrosion preventive compound with cures to a firm film.
Tectyl 892-D provides long-term indoor and outdoor protection for metallic surfaces as well as for domestic and international shipments.
Tectyl 892-D meets Military Specifications MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 3, Class I, for zinc, aluminum, and steel.
At the recommended DFT Tectyl 892-D provides extraordinary protection against corrosion during storage, domestic and overseas transport.
Tectyl 892-D can protect parts stored outside due to its excellent corrosion and UV-protection.
Tectyl 892-D is easy to apply and easy to remove, when no longer needed.
With a DFT of only 60 microns, Tectyl 892-D can protect a large surface with just a little amount of the product.
Surface Preparation
The maximum performance of Tectyl 892-D can be achieved only when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean, dry and free of rust, oil and mill scale. Tectyl recommends a substrate temperature of 10-35 °C at the time of product application.
Application
Tectyl 892-D is formulated to be used as supplied. Tectyl recommends that the ambient and product temperature be 10-35 °C at the time of product application. Do not thin Tectyl 892-D. Ensure uniform consistency prior to use. Avoid contamination with other products in pumps and lines. Tectyl 892-D can be applied by low pressure air spray, brush or dipping. Removal
Tectyl 892-D can in the wet phase be removed with Tectyl™ Biocleaner, Tectyl™ 150 or low-pressure steam. If dried and cured, Tectyl 892-D can be removed with Tectyl Biocleaner or Tectyl 150.
Storage
Tectyl 892-D should be stored at temperatures between 10-35 °C. Mild agitation is recommended prior to use. Due to its composition Tectyl 892-D can be subject to postproduction viscosity changes during storage. Under proper storage conditions Tectyl 892-D is best before 24 months after production date.
