Tectyl 5506W-I is a waterborne, quick drying, general purpose polymer/ wax-based corrosion preventive compound.
Tectyl 5506W-I is excellent for long term protection of metallic surfaces against corrosion in either indoor or outdoor exposure, like machinery, machine rolls/tools, dies, tubing, and spare parts.
Tectyl 5506W-I cures to a clear-light yellow/amber colored, translucent firm and elastic film.
At the recommended DFT, Tectyl 5506W-I provides extraordinary long protection against corrosion.
Tectyl 5506W-I is a fast-drying protective coating.
Tectyl 5506W-I is a water-based compound with low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC).
Surface Preparation
The maximum performance of Tectyl 5506W-I can be achieved only when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean, dry and free of rust, oil and mill scale. CorPro recommends a substrate temperature of 10-35 °C at the time of product application. Please test prior to use. Practical evaluation is preferred when planning to exchange solvent based corrosion preventatives by water-based corrosion preventatives.
Application
Tectyl 5506W-I is formulated to be used as supplied. CorPro recommends that the ambient and product temperature be 10-35 °C at the time of product application. Do not thin Tectyl 5506W-I. Tectyl 5506W-I can be applied by SST airless spray system or low-pressure air spray. The product can also be dipped or painted. Details on application can be found in the application chart.
Removal
Tectyl 5506W-I in the wet phase can be removed with water or Tectyl Biocleaner. If dried and cured Tectyl 5506W-I can be removed with Tectyl Biocleaner.
Storage
Tectyl 5506W-I should be stored at temperatures between 10-35 °C. Do not freeze Tectyl 5506W-I. Mild agitation is recommended prior to use. Do not freeze Tectyl 5506W-I. Due to its composition Tectyl 5506W-I can be subject to postproduction viscosity changes during storage. Under proper storage conditions Tectyl 5506W-I is best before 12 months after production date.
